This is the last course of the trail series, and takes place at San Angelo State Park near the Burkett Trailhead. This course is rockier than the second race, and has a few more hills.
Where do I go?
The second trail series race is inside the San Angelo State Park at the Burkett Trailhead. You will enter the park at the same place as the second race. Clicking this link will show you exactly where we'll be set up. Using Google Maps directions to bring you to Burkett Trailhead will probably bring you to a locked gate. You have to enter the park here.
Directions: From the new HEB (at the intersection of Southland and Sherwood), head north on Farm To Market Rd 2288. After you pass over Arden Rd, travel another 0.7 miles and you'll see signs for the San Angelo State Park South Shore Entrance on the right. Enter the park here. If you get to the Highland Range Estates entrance, you've gone too far. After you turn, keep going until you get to the booth. After the booth, you should take an immediate left. Drive for 1.5 miles and take a left where you see a yield sign. Drive 0.7 miles, and take a right to go down the hill, and you'll find us.
State Park Fees
Runners do not have to pay the $4 fee to get into the park: we'll be paying everyone's fee at the end of the race, since it's included in your entry fee. However, anyone that is not running will need to pay $4 at the booth when entering the park. If you have a Texas State Park Pass, you will just need to show that card.
What does the course look like?
This time, the 5K course and the 15K course are on the same loop, except the 5K course takes a shortcut. That means they'll be sharing the first mile and the last two miles. Because there is often some confusion at the split-off point (which happens at 1.1 miles), we'll be starting the long course and short course about 10 minutes apart.
