Rucking Division
Rucking is a new optional division for the Shannon Trail Series! If you'd like to participate in this division, answer the rucking question "YES" when you register or contact us at the link above and we'll add you.
Rucking on the trails is beautifully simple: you, a sturdy backpack, and Texas dirt under your feet. No military-style obstacles, no stations, no gimmicks. Just a point-to-point challenge of grit and endurance. If you’ve never tried a trail ruck, it’s a fantastic way to stay motivated while taking on rugged terrain at your own pace.
Ruckers are fully part of the event community: your times count in the overall results, and you’re included in the regular age-group awards. In addition, we’ll have special prizes for the top under 150 lb and top over 150 lb in the rucking division at each race. If this division ends up being more popular, we'll possibly expand awards in future years.
All rucking finishers will receive a finisher medal at each race and those that complete all three races will receive an exclusive ruckers-only Trail Series patch!
Required Weight
• If you weigh under 150 lbs: your ruck must weigh at least 20 lbs (not including consumables).
• If you weigh 150 lbs or more: your ruck must weigh at least 30 lbs (not including consumables).
Mandatory ruck weigh-ins occur before the start of the race and again at the finish line.
Important:
– Weight cannot be consumable or wearable (no food, water, or clothing). Anything else is fine.
– Required weight must be on your back—no chest-rig or plate-carrier setups that shift weight forward.
– No sling bags or duffel bags.
– Any standard backpack/ruck is acceptable.
– You may carry additional food, water, clothing, or gear. Those items count as extra weight, not part of the required baseline.
